Movie Review: London Paris New York (2012) [3.5/5]

In every romantic movie there is Boy and there is a Girl. They are shown living a very different life and then serendipity strikes. They are shown in deep intellectual and witty conversation with each other which mainly involves girl complaining about everything and guy just makes fun of her. Eventually they fell in love over the course of 20min reel where they have sang a song on London bridge and hummed the beats near Eiffel tower. Well this all happens in this movie as well.

Being a realistic I only wonder how a guy meets a nice beautiful cute girl in a plane who is willing to go out with him on city tour for whole day when she missed her connecting flight. And it only happens in movies that the guy charmed his way into making the girl fall in love with her in 24hr cinematic hours.

Lets keep this aside and talk about the movie. All above mentioned situations happens in this movie but they are shown in fun way. The core idea of the subject might be adapted (or copied) from the bestselling book “One Day” but still it is a fresh and feel good movie.

  • Music is very soulful and easy on ears. Ali Zafars’s singing and writing is very smooth and melodious.
  • Locations. No wonder movie title is good enough for explanation.
  • Pretty good performance by the leads. Not perfect but good.
  • Screenplay was not boring and dialogues were very basic day to day lines.

  • There were ups and downs. Not very gripping storyline.
  • Drama was not quite intense.

Well this movie is recommended for the couples who wants to sit home relax and just want some fresh movie to spice up their evening.
I shall give 3.5/5

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu – Movie Review

leave a comment »

I know lot of hardcore movie goers and film critics (who don’t get bribed) will either thrash this movie or will just give average rating. They will also label it as same-old-rom-com-hollywood-copied flick. Well I am not exactly on opposite side of their view but come on sometimes we need average movies like Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu whose sole purpose is just to entertainment people with good laugh, feel good and lightly brewed storyline.

Ek Main Ekk Tu if seen from top is just like some other romantic-comedy movie. But inside it has it twists and turns.  Not every movie shows the hero and heroine remaining best friends till the end of the movie.

Shakun Batra is another feather in the Dharma Production’s cap of directors. Like every new directors in Chopras and Johars teams Mr. Batra went with the simple formula that will give him entry into the bollywood and a little bit of fame and money.

His this movie I will say was just “average” just like Rahul Kapoor (Imran Khan).

Wins: Light Humour with few comic scenes, location and settings were eye pleasing, good performance by lead and side actors, soft and light-hearted story line.

Fails:  Humor goes a bit weird few times, poor dialogues and their deliveries, the movie will not have any kind of effect on your brain, bank balance, health or wardrobe.  What a bummer !!!

It seems Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan did this movie like we all do our 9-5 job. Need money to survive. The only difference is traveling, designer clothes/accessories  and parties.

Now since Valentines Day is near watch it with your girlfriend / wife or woh 😉 Have some popcorns, relax, make comments and giggle.

Now I am wondering why did I write such a long article for a movie that is worth 2.5/5 !! phrrrrr…..

Movie Review: AGNEEPATH (4/5)

Is it a remake or is it a tribute ? I watched the old one right after watching new one and saw huge difference in story telling. I will say it is a canned-food, just add some veggies and spice it up.

I Like:

  • cinematography
  • direction
  • background score sets the mood
  • 1-2 songs were good
  • Masterji was effective
  • young-Viju was convincing.. best scene with gun in his hand
  • Rishi K ka extreme kaminapan, but last two lines of his life were a bit too much for commercial movie goers.. still shocking performance
  • Priynka’s chinese beauty parlor… Her thumkas and Kat’s zhatkas,
  • HR’s every-guys-dream-looks and every-girls-dream-man persona with stupendous performance…
  • Sanjay Dutt’s takla (bald head)..he was scaaaaryyyy !!! to one end is Munnabhai and the other end is Kancha … he has balanced his career.
  • HR and SD matching was perfect unlike AB and Danny’s.

  • Unnecessary songs (everyone agrees??….Yes) … Thank god they didn’t show romantic the song in rain.
  • loooonnngggg
  • two stabs and 3 big scratches on the body…seriously ??? its soooo bollywoodish !!!

This movie could have enjoyed the similar fate as RGV’s Sholay…. but the top actors saved it and of course KJo’s backing.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Don 2 – 2011

No mission is impossible for Ethan Hunt and its impossible to catch Don. Mission Impossible 4 and Don 2 runs very parallel and I wish to see them crossing lines one day.

MI4 : almost 50 year old Tom still got the daring to climb the world tallest building and navigating through sand storm. Movie keeps you interested even though the story is same old good guy stopping bad guy.

Accomplished: IMAX scenes (though they were oddly placed), Sand storm, burj climbing, BMW i3 and some action scenes here and there.

Not Accomplished: no classic MI background score, Anil Kapoor (goofy, come on !!), storyline.

My: 7/10

IMDB: 7.7 / 10

Rotten Tomatoes : 93%

Don 2 : close to 50 but still cannot act in non-romantic movies but still he did action scenes with style. Every bad guys wants to print their own money nothing new. Some predictable sequences but still gripping story.

Haan: SRK, The sexy cop Priyanka, action, locations, fight sequences.

Naa: terrible background score + terrible songs, SRK’s overacting, lots of cheesy dialogues (seems like cut+copy+paste+tweak)

My: 7/10

IMDB: 7.7 / 10

Other sources average:: 74%

Desi Boyz – 2011

Does Desi Boyz provide good service? ?
Yes but nothing to keep them in business for long.
Funny moments…no torture scenes…Akki sounds good on ears (unlike other movies where he shouts) … JohnA looks like Johnny Bravo trying to settle down not bad acting though… Deepika nothing new … Chitrannng Chitranga Chitrangaaddaa likes to strip after loosing 50kg … Kher gets ambitious all the time…
In all its a fun fair Friday night time pass flick.

My: 6/10

IMDB: 5.8 / 10

NDTVs: 3.5 / 5
