“What ever your 100% looks like, give it.” ― Lance Armstrong

Well that explains the whole doping part. For long time cancer survivor Lance Armstrong was inspiration and motivation for millions of people. But after his opening up to public last week what will happen to all those motivated people out there ?

It much worse than saying Santa Clause do not exist to a kid. And the weird thing is he did this in his whole career. I am actually amazed to what professional and sophisticated level he has carried out this con job. The good thing about sports is you get stripped off from your title as soon as they find something is wrong. It do not matter how big of a star athlete you are.

But I know people will still stay strong and follow all the good things that LIVESTRONG has to offer. So don’t give up hope, don’t be disappointed, give your 100% everyday and live clean and healthy life.

“A boo is a lot louder than a cheer.” ― Lance Armstrong

I hope he is prepared for the loud noise.

Fragile World

with one comment

Yesterday  one of my friend posted an image of new laptop from Samsung series 9. It claims to be the thinnest laptop. Then I started making list in my mind of things that are created thinner and thinner every year. TVs, Mobiles, Laptops, Tablets and many more. There is race going for creating thinner products and Cell Phones/Mobiles/Smartphones topped that list. Every new device in the market claims to be thinner than other. How thin a device can actually get ? Thinner than a paper ? Nano technology has proved it’s potential to make technology works at microscopic level. Which means we should be able to make paper thin televisions and displays in the near future.

But technology is not the only place things are getting thinner. Even food culture share the similar idea. Snack foods like Thinsation is the perfect example. Small portion meal for healthy living. This idea also applies to humans. Everyone wants to be size-zero (well not everyone actually, but you get my point, eh? ). People run miles and miles to become thin. Clothing is another industry which makes slim cut designs.

So this just got me thinking how fragile everything and everyone will be. Everything will come labeled “Fragile: Handle With Care”. Well it’s just a thought. Let me know what you think if you got couple of seconds to pass time.

Loose Fat or Gain Muscles or Both at same time ??

leave a comment »

So recently i cam across couple of  articles which talked about the most common issue of loosing fat and gaining muscles at the same time. I used to think this happens every time you exercise. But its not that simple.

A person who wants to loose fat tends to sometimes loose muscles too because loosing fat is commonly related to loosing weight where muscles also adds to the equation. This will work for the people who wants to go size zero. For others it not only reduces the muscle mass it can also make you weak.

The other side of the fitness is gaining muscles where people eat big to grow big. Eating lots of carbs and fat rich foods will make them big but not fit.

So what is the proper way to balance out these two needs of a person who wants to look and stay fit ? Its the diet. Its HOW MUCH do you eat and WHEN do you eat. Also proper workout regime is very important for this goal to achieve.

This article says “We look at caloric needs in terms of individual days, rather than as a more universal measurement. ”  On some days we take more calories and other days we starve a bit.

If you are more of a math person or who wants to calculate the daily caloric needs then check out this article here.

The basic strategy is to:

– Take more calories on Weight training day. That too most of it after the workout. before workout focus more on foods that will give you energy like milk, protein shake, healthy carbs like Oats and cottage cheese etc… After workout eat complete meal that will provide all the nutrients. But easy on those delicious Macdo’s french fires. Those calories do not count.

– On non-weight training days eat very small portion of food every 2-3 hrs which is 4-6 times a day. Try not to consume any fried and buttery stuff. Focus only on fruits and veggies. Meat is not recommended. Also min 45 min cardio will boost the metabolism which  will further help in burning fat.

THIS IS NOT EASY TO KEEP UP. Even I am having hard time to keep up with this routine. But hey, thats the challenge, right ? I am trying as much as I can to stay close to this plan.

I will keep posting more interesting stuff as I progress.

Chanting the Fitness Mantra

leave a comment »

So this year I have decided to transform myself and get in shape. Event though I have been going to gym since past 4-5 years I still lack the motivation and dedication towards exercise. I have reasons for it or I would now like to say excuses which are I am tired, Its cold outside, I have to work etc ….

It is the time, now or never. My goal is to get in shape like the man on the left. For this I have to workout right and most important eat right. I have done lots of research, browse through lot of mens health and fitness websites, and I found tons of information.

So I am going to try out new exercises, new workouts and new eating habits. My aim is gaining lean muscles and loosing unnecessary fat.

– I have already started taking my protein shake daily along with multivitamins.

– I am having proper breakfast. Big and as healthy as possible lunch and not overfilling dinner.

– I also have two snack periods one around 10:30 am and another around 4:00pm. An apple in morning and almonds or oat cookies in afternoon.

– I like to have a banana before going to gym which gives me instant boost in energy to keep up with my workout without fatigue.

– I am also gulping down green tea twice every day during my snack period. This will not only help in burning fat but the antioxidants in it will also help my skin problems.

– I try to do at least 3 core exercises before going to weight lifting. I try to do at least one full body exercise every time I hit the gym

– I am putting little focus on cardio around 10-15min 3 times a week. I know this will not be enough if I want to loose fat. But someone told me if I need to gain muscle I need to do less cardio and more weight lifting. I am not too sure about this but will try out for few sessions.

So this is the plan I am trying to keep up for few weeks now and see how much I progressed. I will try to introduce new workout routines and exercises during this process and will update interesting ones up here. If you guys have suggestions please write it me.
